Reporting Procedures
The Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center is committed to ensuring the safety and security of our residents, our staff, and the community we serve. The Center maintains policies and procedures that prohibit all forms of illegal or unethical conduct and include procedures reporting and investigating of any such claims.
In most circumstances, concerns or complaints may be addressed to our staff or the Shift Supervisor on duty. If an issue remains unresolved, our staff will bring the issue to management. At this level, all concerns or complaints reported are thoroughly addressed and the vast majority are resolved in a satisfactory manner. However, if an individual still feels their concern or complaint has not been fully resolved, they are instructed on the process of filing a grievance with the Executive Director. A grievance is a formal complaint or report made to the Executive Director of the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center or his appointed designee from the directorship level of management. There is no requirement that must be met before a formal grievance may be filed. Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center will accept general grievances from the parents and/or guardians of current or past residents.
Resident Safety
The safety of residents in our care is the Center’s priority. The Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center has a zero-tolerance policy for physical abuse and sexual misconduct, including sexual abuse and sexual harassment. Any grievance indicating that physical abuse or sexual misconduct, including sexual abuse and harassment has occurred, or is imminent, will be addressed in an emergency fashion and will yield immediate corrective action.
It is the policy of Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center to accept third-party grievances related to allegations of abuse, sexual misconduct, and sexual abuse or harassment. Third parties, including fellow residents, staff members, family members, attorneys, and outside advocates, shall be permitted to assist residents in filing request for administrative remedies related to claims of this nature. Residents are not required to agree with having a grievance or request filed on their behalf and are not required to personally pursue any subsequent steps in the administrative remedy process. Third-party grievances may also be made anonymously.
Reports or grievances may be written, verbal, anonymous, or made to a third-party. If you would like to notify the Detention Center management that physical abuse, or sexual misconduct, including sexual abuse and harassment, has occurred, or is imminent, or file a formal grievance or complaint, utilize the contact information below.
