Tyler Hinshaw

Director of Facilities

Tyler Hinshaw was born a resident of Tangipahoa Parish. He is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University. His career at the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center began on September 12, 2011; serving as a Juvenile Detention Staff. He was assigned to FPJDC’s Swing Shift; where he assisted in the operation of high-volume day and evening schedule of activities, all while providing direct supervision to detained youth.

In June 2012, Tyler was awarded Employee of the Quarter; an honor recognizing noteworthy accomplishments of employees. Almost one year later to the day, he was promoted to Assistant Shift Supervisor where he provided direct supervision of up to 18 Juvenile Detention Staff. While serving in the role of Assistant Shift Supervisor, Tyler completed the Dale Carnegie Course in Effective Communication and Human Relation and has participated in numerous trainings both, statewide and nationally, ranging from early childhood development to human sex trafficking.

On June 15, 2016 Tyler was appointed Director of Facilities; providing management of the agency’s physical plant, maintenance department, IT services, accounts payable and vendor contracts, capital projects, and emergency preparedness. Although Tyler’s position and responsibilities within the agency have changed significantly, from when he first began his career with FPJDC, his passion for helping at-risk youth is still the same. He still regularly interacts with the resident; by participating in structured activities, checking up on their behaviors, and inspiring positive change within them.
