Each year countless youth volunteer their free time to cultivate and harvest a large-scale vegetable garden on the grounds of FPJDC. All fresh produce is donated to the Tangi Food Pantry throughout the harvesting season. It is then distributed to families in need within the local community.

Florida Parish Juvenile Detention Center of Southeast Louisiana has reconsidered the way in which we detain accused juveniles.
The staff of Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center recently hosted a food drive to benefit the Tangi Food Pantry of Hammond, LA. The Detention Center has been a long-time contributor to the non-profit food bank, annually donating fresh produce grown by the juvenile residents as part of a restorative-justice approach in encouraging community activism.
